Scene to read · Ethics, Collaboration
Why isn't Dario coming?
You are a friend who knew the group had quietly stopped inviting Reyna's partner, and you are sitting in the back seat.
After a group dinner, you, Xabier and Xander sit in a parked car outside the restaurant. Xabier is Reyna's close friend and Xander is a longtime friend who organizes outings. The group stopped inviting Reyna's new partner because he dominates conversations. Xabier has just noticed and asked, and both turn to you.
The scene
Xabier: Xander, Dario missed the last three outings. Did something happen?
Xander: Nothing happened. Plans got small. Let's not make this a thing.
Xabier: It feels like something. You're both quiet. Tell me the truth.
Xander: You helped decide. Say what's fair, but please keep it gentle.
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Xabier in this moment, and why?
- 2How do you decide when honesty with a friend should outweigh keeping a group's quiet agreement?
What raters look for
- Ethics
- Weighs competing duties honestly, protects people from harm, and stays accountable to rules and values.
- Collaboration
