Watch four original scene demos
These AI-generated scenes were written by Confetto. They aren't official test questions or a complete test. A filmed situation doesn't, by itself, tell you whether the real test will ask for a video or typed answer; follow the response instructions on screen.
Card declined
You are a cashier at a grocery store.
It's the evening rush. A young mother's card has just been declined twice, and the line behind her is long.
Question 1: What would you do?
Check your test type before choosing a timer
The standard test and the shorter Australian teacher-education test have different scenario counts. Both use two questions per scenario.
- Standard test
- 4 video-response scenarios, then 7 typed-response scenarios; 2 questions per scenario.
- Video responses
- 1 minute to record each answer. Video-based scenarios include a 10-second recording countdown.
- Typed responses
- 3.5 minutes shared between the two questions in a scenario.
- Optional breaks
- Standard format: 10 minutes after video responses and 5 minutes after the fourth typed scenario.
- Estimated duration
- The official estimate for the standard test is 65–85 minutes, including breaks.
- Teacher education in Australia
- A shorter 2026–27 variant: 2 video-response and 6 typed-response scenarios, with an official estimate of 45–65 minutes.
- Presentation and response
- A scene or written situation is how a scenario is presented. Follow the specified video or typed response method; the presentation alone does not choose it.
These are the published 2026–2027 structures. Check your test type and the official format before choosing a practice setup.
Calculate the response-time budget
This worksheet adds only the time available to answer. It leaves out reading or watching situations, transitions, reflection and breaks, so it isn't the length of the whole test.
| Response budget | Standard test | Australian teacher education |
|---|---|---|
| Spoken answers | 4 scenarios × 2 questions = 8 one-minute answers | 2 scenarios × 2 questions = 4 one-minute answers |
| Typed answer pairs | 7 pairs × 3.5 minutes = 24.5 minutes | 6 pairs × 3.5 minutes = 21 minutes |
| Answer time only | 8 + 24.5 = 32.5 minutes | 4 + 21 = 25 minutes |
| Official whole-test estimate | 65–85 minutes | 45–65 minutes |
If you rehearse one typed pair, set one 210-second timer for both questions. For a spoken rehearsal, give each question its own 60-second response window. These calculations don't estimate how long Confetto's app takes to upload or score a session.
Keep a useful practice log
- 1
Record which task you're testing
Use the official practice for interface familiarity. Use an original question pair for a specific pacing exercise.
- 2
Note what happened when the clock ended
Did you answer both questions? Write down the question or clause you left unanswered rather than assigning yourself an official score.
- 3
Change one thing on the next attempt
For example, move to question two sooner, or replace an assumed motive with a question you would ask. Compare that change with the first attempt.
For setup requirements and an original typed-response worksheet, see how to prepare for Casper. For text you can practise with now, use the ten original sample scenarios.
