PLAB 2 Practicewith AI Patients

Run full stations with an AI patient who reacts like a role-player, marked on the exam's three domains.

Example candidate, not a real reviewIMG doctor, PLAB 2 in 6 weeks

Took a thorough chest pain history but moved past the comment about his father, so the patient kept pushing to get back to work.

The report flagged it under Interpersonal skills: “Picks up the cue about his father and explores his fear”

PatientSorry, can we keep the light down? It's one of my migraines, I think, just a really bad one.
YouOf course. Can you tell me how quickly it came on, and how it compares with your usual migraines?
PatientIt just exploded at the back of my head. Nothing like my migraines, if I'm honest.

What you see after every station

61 PLAB 2 stations, each with its own marking sheet. Here is one, marked by the app's own scorer.

PLAB 2 · History taking · 8-minute station

Headache, 38-year-old woman

  • Data gathering

    2/4 · Borderline

  • Clinical management

    3/4 · Pass

Safety-critical actions

  • Missed · Must-do · Recognizes the sudden-onset, worst-ever headache as possible subarachnoid hemorrhage and arranges an urgent CT head with senior involvement
  • Partly · Asks how quickly the headache reached its peak and how it differs from her usual migraines
  • Partly · Must-do · Does not discharge her or let her leave without explaining the risk

What was said

“Of course. Is it like your usual migraines? I'll get you something stronger for the pain, and you can rest here.”

You anchored on migraine. Ask how fast it peaked: a sudden start can mean a bleed.

What a pass needed

“How quickly did it reach its worst? Within seconds is not like your migraines, so I'm worried about a bleed around the brain. I'd like a scan now and a senior doctor to see you, and we'll sort out school pick-up together.”

The station from the video at the top of this page, marked by the same scorer the app uses. The answer is a short test consultation we wrote, not a real candidate's.

How a station is marked

2 min

Reading the instructions first (the GMC doesn't publish the length)

8 min

With the patient, like every PLAB 2 station

  1. Three domains, graded 0 to 4

Data gathering, technical and assessment skills; clinical management skills; interpersonal skills. Each from clear fail to clear pass, with your own words quoted.

  2. Pass, borderline or fail

One band for the station: pass at 80 and over, borderline from 60, fail under 60. Missing a must-do safety step caps it at a fail.

  3. What a pass needed

Every point on the station's marking sheet, domain by domain, with the ones you missed or only partly did flagged.
