- Residency, with a personal statement to fix: ResidencyAI. Its bundles include mock interviews and personal statement review.
- Mostly nerves and delivery, for any interview: Yoodli or Big Interview. General coaches. Their pricing pages name no medical school scenarios.
- You want a person to test your judgment: A human coach or your advising office. Many applicants pair AI repetition with one coach mock at the end. See human coaches compared.
What should a good AI interviewer do?
Start with your format. Every medical tool here covers MMI stations, but only a few list traditional or panel interviews, one-way video, Casper or residency, so check the first table. Then look for follow-up questions. A real interviewer pushes on your first answer, and a tool that only scores a recording cannot rehearse that part.
Feedback should cover what you said and how you said it, against the same rubric each time. Across 54,839 mock interviews on Confetto, scores rose with practice, so pick the tool you will open several times a week and match the plan to the weeks you have left.
For MMI circuits, our AI MMI simulator runs timed stations with follow-up questions. For the Casper test, Casper Prep by Confetto runs AI practice on the real timers.

AI tools built for medical school interviews
ammino
A voice AI interviewer for MMI stations: scenario, role-play, behavioral and a "Mystery" type, plus a full timed MMI circuit. Its FAQ says sessions include follow-up questions and that role-play uses a character that reacts to you.
Each station is rated on five MMI dimensions, with a transcript and a recording. You can also paste a question from another question bank and run it as a station.
Pay as you go: Starter, Prep and Season packs of 3, 10 and 24 stations that never expire, billed by the minutes you use (a station is 8 minutes with the interviewer). The page text says prices are in USD plus tax and all purchases are final. The amounts load in your browser, and from Canada the page showed C$13.99 to C$69.99, so check it before you buy.
Built for medical, dental and PA applicants.
Good for: You only want a few MMI stations, especially role-play, and would rather pay per station than for a time pass.

Free and do-it-yourself
ChatGPT voice (DIY)
A do-it-yourself option. You write the scenario, the timing and the grading instructions, then answer out loud in voice mode.
No interview rubric is built in, so scores can change from run to run, and it does not keep a history of scored sessions for you.
We could not load OpenAI's own pages when we checked, so this row describes only how applicants use it, not its plans.
Good for: You want to draft stories, generate practice questions or have ethics ideas explained. Rehearse somewhere that pushes back before an interview that matters.

Covers 1,114 health professional schools, including medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary and physical therapy schools.
You log in with an SDN account. Standard members get 2 sessions a day and 10 a month. Donor levels get up to 3 a day and 40 a month.
Its page says audio is streamed to OpenAI to run the interview and is not stored by SDN, and transcripts are kept only if you save the report.
Good for: You want free, school-specific practice informed by past applicants' interview reports and only need a few sessions a month.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an AI that does mock MMI interviews?
Yes. ammino, Confetto, Deepmock, Intervly and MMI Practice all run MMI stations. ammino, Confetto, Intervly and MMI Practice's live mode use an AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions, per their own pages in October 2026. Deepmock scores a recorded answer and adds peer review. Most have a free tier, so you can try two before you pay.
Which AI mock interview tools are free?
The Student Doctor Network AI Interview Coach needs only a free SDN account: standard members get 2 sessions a day and 10 a month. Free tiers include MMI Practice (1 live interview and unlimited async), Deepmock (8 AI analyses a week), ammino (3 stations), Intervly (its page says 3 mock interviews), ResidencyAI (3 single-question credits) and Confetto (a free trial with 3 free mock interviews).
Can ChatGPT run a mock medical school interview?
It can if you set it up. You write the scenario, the timing and how it should grade you, and voice mode lets you answer out loud. It has no interview rubric built in, so the same answer can get different scores on different runs. Read where ChatGPT helps and where it falls short.
Which AI tools cover residency interviews?
Confetto (residency questions built from your own ERAS application or CV), Intervly (residency and fellowship tracks) and ResidencyAI (residency and US medical school, plus personal statement review) say so on their pages. ammino, Deepmock and MMI Practice are built around MMI stations.
Do AI mock interviews actually help?
For most applicants, yes, because they add practice out loud. The hard part of an interview is giving a clear answer under time pressure and holding up when someone pushes back, and reading questions does not build that. An AI interviewer lets you rehearse it at any hour, as often as you need. Try two free tiers and keep the one whose feedback you act on.
Is an AI mock interview as good as a human one?
Not for everything. An AI interviewer is good for many reps at any hour, for follow-up questions and for scoring you the same way each time. A human coach or advisor can judge your whole application and how a specific school's interviewers think. Many applicants use AI for repetition and book one human mock before a final interview.
