How to prepare for Casper

Start with the official practice test and check your setup on the device you'll use for the real test. Then rehearse a specific task, such as sharing the typed-response clock between two questions, instead of memorizing an answer script.

Complete the official setup tasks first

  1. 1

Check the reservation in your account

Confirm your test type, scheduled time and time zone before choosing a practice format. Australian teacher-education applicants have a shorter structure than the standard test.

  2. 2

Use a supported browser and device

Acuity Insights currently lists the latest Chrome and Firefox, on a laptop or desktop with a working webcam and microphone. Test with the device and connection you plan to use.

  3. 3

    Open the official practice test

Use the free practice in your Acuity Insights account to learn its interface. The provider says practice responses aren't saved or submitted for feedback.

  4. 4

Check early, then repeat in the required window

An early check gives you time to resolve problems. Acuity's current instructions also require the System Requirements Check within six hours before your scheduled test, using the same device, connection and setup.

The six-hour requirement appears in the official preparation guidance updated August 6, 2026. An earlier check doesn't replace that test-day check. Acuity recommends its own free preparation resources and doesn't endorse third-party preparation.

Match your practice to the test type

Standard test
4 video-response scenarios, then 7 typed-response scenarios; 2 questions per scenario.
Video responses
1 minute to record each answer. Video-based scenarios include a 10-second recording countdown.
Typed responses
3.5 minutes shared between the two questions in a scenario.
Optional breaks
Standard format: 10 minutes after video responses and 5 minutes after the fourth typed scenario.
Estimated duration
The official estimate for the standard test is 65–85 minutes, including breaks.
Teacher education in Australia
A shorter 2026–27 variant: 2 video-response and 6 typed-response scenarios, with an official estimate of 45–65 minutes.
Presentation and response
A scene or written situation is how a scenario is presented. Follow the specified video or typed response method; the presentation alone does not choose it.

These are the published 2026–2027 structures. Check your test type and the official format before choosing a practice setup.

Try a 210-second typed-response worksheet

Both questions share 3.5 minutes. This original Confetto worksheet gives each answer time while leaving room to read and review. It's an optional pacing exercise, not an official scoring formula; adjust it to the questions.

Original typed-response pacing worksheet
PhaseSecondsTask
Plan20Read both questions. Note the action each asks you to explain.
Answer question one80State your next step and the reason for it. Name a missing fact if the decision depends on it.
Answer question two80Address this question directly rather than repeating the first answer.
Review30Check for an unanswered clause or an assumption you presented as a fact.

20 + 80 + 80 + 30 = 210 seconds. After one attempt, note where you ran out of time. Change that part on your next attempt rather than treating this split as a rule for every scenario.

Replace an assumed motive with a useful question

In this fictional exercise, a member keeps leaving club meetings early. Compare these two starting points.

Assumption
“They aren't committed, so I'd ask them to take the club more seriously.” You haven't established why they leave.
Question to ask
“I'd speak with them privately and ask whether the meeting time or travel makes it hard to stay.” This checks a fact that could change your next step.
Conditional next step
“If the time is the problem, I'd discuss a different slot with the group. If it can't change, I'd agree on how they can contribute and receive the meeting notes.” Explain the trade-off rather than promising a solution you can't control.

Use the same review question on an original sample scenario: what did you assume, what would you ask, and how would the answer change your action? For a personal-experience question, describe what actually happened to you and what you learned.

Rehearse spoken answers on the official interface

The official video-response window is one minute per question. Use the provider's practice to get familiar with speaking to its camera interface and finishing before the timer ends. Answer the question you're given rather than forcing every situation into a memorized structure.

Confetto's spoken practice records microphone audio and scores transcripts. Its camera is a preview, so it doesn't reproduce official video recording or evaluate your appearance. Use it for a timed verbal exercise with that limit in mind.

Read scores as the kind of evidence they are

Acuity Insights uses human raters and combines typed and video responses into the official result. The applicant quartile describes your performance relative to an official test cohort; it doesn't reveal a private question-by-question breakdown or determine an admission decision.

Confetto uses an AI practice scale from 1 to 9 and maps average scores to a fixed-threshold practice quartile estimate. That calculation doesn't compare you with official test takers. Use the feedback to inspect an answer, not to predict your official quartile.

Use a timed exercise to review your reasoning

Confetto provides original timed practice. Spoken answers are recorded as microphone audio and scored from transcripts; the camera is a preview. Its full preset follows the standard counts and response timers, not the shorter Australian teacher-education format.
  • Full, quick and typed-only practice presets
  • AI coaching after successful upload, transcription and scoring
  • A 1–9 practice scale and fixed-threshold quartile estimate, not an official result
  • One quick set for eligible trial accounts: 2 spoken and 3 typed scenarios

Full and typed-only practice require paid or paid-through access. Check current trial duration, pricing and renewal terms in the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about official preparation, system checks and response pacing.

There is no verified one-to-three-week rule that fits every applicant. Complete the official practice and setup tasks first, then use a short exercise to identify a specific pacing or reasoning issue. This guide's worksheet is an optional rehearsal, not a proven score-improvement plan.
Acuity Insights currently lists the latest Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox for the official test. Check the linked official requirements before test day; a browser working on a practice website does not establish official support.
Acuity Insights' August 6, 2026 preparation guidance requires the System Requirements Check within six hours before your scheduled test. Check early so you can resolve problems, then repeat it in that window on the same device, connection and setup.
Both questions share 3.5 minutes. The original worksheet on this page allocates 20 seconds to planning, 80 seconds to each answer and 30 seconds to review. That totals 210 seconds; adjust the split to the questions. It is not an official scoring formula.
Use the official practice to learn the format and answer the actual question. Acuity Insights recommends its own free resources and does not endorse third-party preparation. The worked examples here illustrate reasoning; do not present a fictional example as your personal experience.
The applicant quartile describes performance relative to an official test cohort. It is not a private question-by-question score breakdown or an admission decision. Programs receive the official result; Confetto's fixed-threshold practice estimate cannot reproduce that comparison.
