What was said

“Okay, we can check your thyroid and do a full set of bloods, then see how you feel.”

You planned well but missed her cue about her mum. Ask what's worrying her.

What a pass needed

“You mentioned your mum. Is something worrying you about that? Poor sleep and night sweats can affect memory, so I'd like to ask about your periods and sleep, then check your thyroid and iron.”

The consultation from the video at the top of this page, marked by the same scorer the app uses. The answer is a short test consultation we wrote, not a real candidate's.

How a consultation is marked

3 min

Reading time with the record, as the RCGP sets it

12 min

The consultation, by video or telephone

  1. Three domains, graded 0 to 4

Data gathering and diagnosis; clinical management and medical complexity; relating to others. Each from clear fail to clear pass, with your own words quoted.

  2. Pass, borderline or fail

One band for the case: pass at 80 and over, borderline from 60, fail under 60. Missing a must-do safety step caps it at a fail.

  3. What a pass needed

Every point on the case's marking sheet, domain by domain, with the ones you missed or only partly did flagged.
