Personal question · Resilience, Empathy

After it fell apart

Our own disappointments often shape how we show up for other people's. Think about something you worked hard for that fell apart, and about a later time when a friend or someone close to you faced a disappointment of their own.

The two questions

  1. 1Tell us about a time you kept going after something you had worked hard for fell apart. What helped you continue?
  2. 2Describe a moment when you later supported someone close to you through a disappointment, and comforting them and being honest with them pulled in different directions. What did you do?

What raters look for

Resilience
Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
Empathy
Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
