More annoyed than it deserved

Sometimes a small habit or choice by a friend bothers us far more than it seems to deserve. Those outsized reactions can point to values we hold strongly, even ones we rarely name out loud, and they test how we give honest feedback to people we care about.

The two questions

  1. 1Describe a time a friend's habit or choice frustrated you more than you expected. What did you feel in the moment, and how did you handle it with them?
  2. 2Tell us about a time you came to understand what was really behind a strong reaction like that. What did you realize, and what did it teach you about what matters most to you?

What raters look for

Self-awareness
Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
Motivation
Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
