Forty dollars
You are the assistant at a small antique shop.
Mrs. Halloran, who is clearing out her late husband's study, has brought in a small landscape painting. Your boss, Vic, who hired you when nobody else would, whispered to you that the signature might make it worth thousands, or it might be a copy. The shop is two months behind on rent.
What's said in the scene
Mrs. Halloran: It hung over his desk for years. Would forty dollars be too much to ask?
Vic: Forty's fine. I'll take a chance on it.
Mrs. Halloran: Oh, good. I was afraid it was worthless.
Vic: Could be. That's the business. Grab the receipt book for me, would you?
The two questions
