Scene to read · Professionalism, Ethics

Just a thank-you

You run the public social media page for a small veterinary clinic.

This morning Koji, a client of twenty years, posted a glowing comment that gives his neighbor's full name, her phone number and her dog's diagnosis, so people can ask her about the clinic. It has forty likes, and the page only lets you hide a whole comment. Koji is at your desk in the back office with your coworker Shirley.

The scene

Koji: She told me herself: give my number to anyone who asks.

Shirley: She did post about the diagnosis herself last month. We just can't reach her.

Koji: Hide it, and forty people think I did something wrong. After twenty years here.

Shirley: Anyone can copy that number while it's up, though. Your page. What now?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you do about the comment, and how would you explain it to Koji?
  2. 2Describe a time you had to hold a boundary with someone who meant well. How did you explain it?
