Forty minutes to the pitch
You are house-sitting for a friend, Dana, who is abroad, and you lead a client pitch in forty minutes.
You left Dana's backyard gate unlatched this morning, and her old dog, Biscuit, wandered out and has come back limping. Your coworker Kwesi has just pulled up to drive you to the pitch. On the sidewalk, Dana's neighbor Hamza is kneeling beside the dog.
The scene
Kwesi: We have to go. The client flew in for you, not me.
Hamza: I can take him to the vet, but someone has to approve costs.
Kwesi: Call your friend from the car. He's in good hands.
Hamza: It's her dog, and he's old. Would she want to hear it secondhand?
The two questions
- 1What would you do in the next few minutes, and why?
- 2Describe a time your own mistake put two of your responsibilities in conflict. What did you do?
What raters look for
