The eager rules explainer
You are a regular at a weekly board game club and usually the one who explains new games.
You pick up new games quickly and like to explain the rules as soon as the box opens. Some members thank you for getting everyone playing fast. Others have gone quiet during your explanations, and a few have started skipping new-game nights. Other members get restless when the start is delayed. You have to decide how to handle the next new game.
The two questions
- 1What would you do at the next new-game night, and why?
- 2Tell us about a time you noticed that something you do well affected other people differently than you expected. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Self-awareness
- Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
- Empathy
- Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
