Thirty for the blanket

You are shopping at a weekend craft market with your close friend Aroha.

A sign on Dina's stall says offers are welcome. You have just talked her down from sixty dollars to thirty for a hand-woven blanket that she says took her two weeks, and you are feeling pleased with yourself as she wraps it.

The scene

Dina: Thirty it is. Thank you, really. It's been a slow month, so every sale counts.

Aroha: Two weeks of weaving for thirty dollars. You do drive a bargain.

Dina: Oh, a deal's a deal. I said yes, didn't I? Cash or card?

Aroha: Well? She's waiting on you.

The two questions

  1. 1What would you do now, and why?
  2. 2When both people have agreed to a price, what else, if anything, makes it fair?
