Personal question · Self-awareness, Communication
Somebody had to say it
A teammate keeps missing passes, a lab partner's sections arrive half done, a singer drifts flat: at some point somebody has to tell them. Think about a time that somebody was you.
The two questions
- 1Tell us about a time you had to tell a teammate or groupmate something about their performance that they did not want to hear. How did you decide what to say and how to say it?
- 2Describe the way they reacted. What would you change about how you delivered the message?
What raters look for
- Self-awareness
- Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
