One more year

You write the songs for a three-piece band of old friends.

Last night's show, the third in a row, drew eleven people. In the garage where you practice, Zola, your drummer, and Bernard, your singer, who paid four thousand dollars for last year's recording, have stopped setting up.

Zola: Eleven people, four of them family. Let's end it while we're still friends.

Bernard: I put four thousand into that record. Give it one more year. One.

Zola: Another year of loading drums into empty rooms? For what?

Bernard: For the songs. They're yours. No new songs, no band. So?
