The silent teammate

You are one of four students on a graded group project.

Two days before your group presents, you meet with two teammates in the library. The fourth member, Priya, has not replied to messages for a week and has not started her section.

What's said in the scene

Marcus: I'm done covering for her. Let's email the professor tonight and ask for her name to come off the project.

Leah: We don't even know what's going on with her. But I also can't do her part and mine by Thursday.

Marcus: Either way we need a plan now. What do you think we should do?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you suggest to the group, and why?
  2. 2Describe a time you had to depend on someone who was not doing their share. What did you do, and what did you learn?

What raters look for

Collaboration
Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
Empathy
Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
