They like you

You are the newest member of a masters swim squad.

You joined the squad three months ago. After practice the coach, Wiremu, tells you that pool rental costs mean training fees must rise by a quarter next month. He asks you to tell the others at Thursday's session, because they like you and, since an argument over the last increase, they stop listening when he talks about money. Wiremu picks the lanes, the relay teams and who travels to meets. You think news like this should come from the coach, though you can see the squad might take it more calmly from you.

The two questions

  1. 1How would you respond to Wiremu?
  2. 2How do you decide who should be the one to deliver unwelcome news to a group?
