Personal question · Communication, Empathy

Raising it where you live

Thin walls, a shared kitchen, a parking space, a bill split three ways. Think about something a roommate, family member or neighbor kept doing that affected you, and the conversation you needed to have about it.

The two questions

  1. 1Tell us about a time you had to raise a problem with someone you live with or live near. How did you bring it up?
  2. 2What was their reaction, and what would you change about what you did or said?

What raters look for

Communication
Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
Empathy
Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
