Carrying the invitation twice

You are a neighbor on the third floor who has been asked to pass on a dinner invitation.

In the third-floor hallway, Keir, a longtime resident, stands with you outside the door of Kazimir, who moved in last month. Kazimir already turned down the building's first-Friday dinner, politely and firmly. Keir asks you to bring the invitation up again.

The scene

Keir: Kazimir, everyone here eats together the first Friday. We'd love you there.

Kazimir: That's kind, Keir, and thank you. I'd still rather stay in.

Keir: People here keep asking until they hear yes. That's welcoming. Right, neighbor?

Kazimir: I'm grateful, truly. Honestly, would you ask again, or let it rest?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you say to Kazimir and Keir, and what would you do next?
  2. 2How do you decide when to keep offering someone an invitation and when to accept their no?
