The last Sunday dinner

You are your partner's spouse, and your partner has asked you to make a phone call.

You and your partner have hosted your partner's parents for dinner every Sunday for years. Your partner is quietly exhausted and wants the dinners to stop, but asked you not to say so. They have asked you to call the parents tonight and tell them the dinners will end. The parents are likely to ask why, and they love the tradition.

The two questions

  1. 1What would you say to your partner's parents, and why?
  2. 2Describe a time you had to pass on difficult news or a decision while respecting someone's request for privacy. How did you handle it?
