Written scenario · Ethics, Self-awareness

A lucky typo

You are a university student applying for a scholarship with a minimum grade requirement.

Checking your final grades, you notice your chemistry mark was entered as 86 instead of the 76 on your graded exam, almost certainly a typing error. With 86, your average meets the scholarship cutoff; with 76, it does not. The application is due next week, and nobody else is likely to notice.

The two questions

  1. 1What would you do?
  2. 2Describe a time you did the right thing when no one would have known otherwise.

What raters look for

Ethics
Weighs competing duties honestly, protects people from harm, and stays accountable to rules and values.
Self-awareness
Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
