Still waiting on the signs
You are a patient advisory council member at a hospital, and you may request formal follow-up on your suggestions.
After a council session, you stay in the meeting room with council chair Brice, 31, and hospital administrator Borys, 61. Your two suggestions on clearer signage were acknowledged months ago but never answered. Written replies are available on request, though Borys has previously asked members to allow departments time rather than initiate formal follow-up.
The scene
Borys: Your input is valued, but signage changes take time across several departments.
Brice: I'm wondering whether members are losing heart after months without any feedback.
Borys: I can chase responses, though formal requests pull staff from other projects.
Brice: It's hard to keep contributing without feedback. Could you provide a written update?
The two questions
- 1What would you do in this situation, and why?
- 2How do you decide when to keep contributing patiently and when to press for a clear answer?
What raters look for
- Motivation
- Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
