Three hundred doors
You organized a group of volunteers to raise money for a new roof for your neighbourhood youth center.
Three weeks in, the group has raised $2,100 of its $15,000 goal. You meet two of the volunteers, Leon and Amira, at a coffee shop after a Saturday of door-to-door canvassing.
What's said in the scene
Leon: We've knocked on something like three hundred doors. Most people don't even open them.
Amira: I think I'm going to stop coming. I have exams soon anyway.
Leon: (to you) You got us into this. Honestly, why should we keep going?
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Leon and Amira?
- 2Describe a time you had to keep a group going when motivation was low.
What raters look for
- Motivation
- Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
