Two months of tiptoeing
You share an apartment with two roommates, Freya and Lior, and they both look to you to help settle things.
Freya, 58, takes her accounting licensing exam in two months. It will be her third attempt, and a job offer depends on passing. Her flashcards cover the living room table, where she, Lior, 70, and you are talking.
The scene
Freya: Two months only. No television, no guests, no music after six. Then I pass.
Lior: Two months of tiptoeing in my own home? That's not living.
Freya: I know it's a lot. But I cannot fail this one again.
Lior: My grandkids come Sundays. You live here too. What would you tell her?
The two questions
- 1What would you say to help Freya stay on track for her exam while keeping the apartment livable for Lior and you?
- 2Describe a time you supported someone else's goal at some cost to yourself. How did you keep it sustainable?
What raters look for
- Motivation
- Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
