Scene to read · Professionalism, Ethics
Why she stopped coming
You are sitting on the front porch steps of your family home when a neighbor stops by to ask you for a favor.
Your neighbor Irfan is about to hire the caregiver who looked after your late grandfather to stay overnight with his elderly mother. Two years ago she left your family without notice because of a health crisis she shared with you in confidence, and it could return. Your sister Layla sits beside you on the steps, where voices carry easily along the street.
The scene
Irfan: I sign her contract tomorrow. Why'd she leave your family so suddenly?
Layla: Just tell him why she left. It might actually help her.
Irfan: My mother can't be alone overnight. If she vanishes again, who's with her?
Layla: If you dodge, he'll assume the worst. But keep it down, people can hear.
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Irfan and Layla?
- 2Describe a time you were asked for information about someone that was not entirely yours to share. How did you handle it?
What raters look for
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
