Scene to read · Professionalism, Ethics
Whose name on the lease
You are a leasing agent at an apartment complex.
At your complex, the bonus for a signed lease goes to the agent who files it, and the system accepts only agents who are on shift. Kai toured twice with your coworker Noor, who is away all week, and has come in ready to sign. By the key cabinet, the other agent on duty, Paige, speaks up.
The scene
Paige: File it under us two. Noor took my walk-in the same way last month.
Kai: Noor was great, but I can't wait. My other offer expires at five.
Paige: We can't even enter her name while she's off. That's the system, not us.
Kai: Whoever's doing it, I'm ready. Whose desk am I sitting at?
The two questions
- 1What would you do about the lease and the bonus, and what would you say to Paige?
- 2Describe a time you could have taken credit or a reward that partly belonged to someone else. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
- Ethics
- Weighs competing duties honestly, protects people from harm, and stays accountable to rules and values.
