Scene to read · Professionalism, Collaboration
Three weeks, no Nico
You play on a club squash team.
Your team's captain, Jabari, must submit tomorrow's league lineup tonight. Your teammate Nico has skipped three weeks of practice, and he confided the private reason only to you, asking you to keep it to yourself. In the gallery above the courts, Jabari and another teammate, Ibrahim, come to find you.
The scene
Jabari: Lineup goes in tonight. Three weeks, no Nico. You know why. Tell me, please.
Ibrahim: If he's getting dropped, we all deserve to know the reason.
Jabari: I don't want to drop him. But I can't pick a man I can't count on.
Ibrahim: You promised him, fine. But it's the team's season too.
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Jabari and Ibrahim?
- 2Describe a time you were trusted with something private that other people felt they had a right to know. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
