Scene to read · Professionalism, Ethics

Barely a hint

You are helping your brother and his wife paint their baby's nursery.

Last week you interviewed for one of several city transit supervisor openings and signed a promise not to discuss the interview's content. Your brother Naveen interviews for the same role on Friday. His wife, Rocio, is painting beside him, and the baby is due next month.

The scene

Naveen: I'm not asking for the questions. Just tell me: scenarios, or more about budgets?

Rocio: That's barely a hint. A prep course would tell you that much.

Naveen: I froze last time. If I miss this raise, we can't cover daycare.

Rocio: You signed for the exact questions, right? This isn't that. Is it?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you say to Naveen and Rocio?
  2. 2Tell us about a time keeping your word cost you something with people you care about. What did you do?
