Scene to read · Resilience, Communication
One vote short
You are the project lead whose proposal to digitize the club's photo collection just lost by one vote.
In the hallway outside a church hall after a general meeting, Evelina, a supporter, and Ewan, a longtime member who voted against, stand with you. You still hold several donated boxes of old club photos and could scan them on your own time.
The scene
Evelina: One vote. You could scan them quietly at home. Nobody would know.
Ewan: The members decided. Scanning them would make that vote meaningless, wouldn't it?
Evelina: Those prints are fading. If we wait, they might not survive.
Ewan: Bring it back properly. Don't go around everyone. What will you do?
The two questions
- 1What would you do, and what would you say to Evelina and Ewan?
- 2Tell us about a time you had to accept a decision you disagreed with. How did you respond?
What raters look for
- Resilience
- Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
