Personal question · Self-awareness, Motivation

Did finishing count?

Crossing the line and feeling you succeeded are different things. A charity walk completed in last place, a street cleanup that reached only half the block, a certificate earned with a bare pass: each is finished, and each leaves you to reach a verdict on yourself.

The two questions

  1. 1Tell us about something you saw through to the end after nearly walking away at the midpoint. When it was over, did you count it as a success, and why?
  2. 2What did that verdict show you about the yardstick you use on yourself, now that you have had time to look back?

What raters look for

Self-awareness
Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
Motivation
Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
