Written scenario · Self-awareness, Professionalism
Out of my depth
You are a paid peer tutor at your university's learning center.
A first-year student books a session on a statistics topic you last studied two years ago. Halfway through the hour, you realize that the method you have spent twenty minutes explaining is the wrong one for this type of problem. The student has been taking careful notes and has an assignment due tomorrow.

The two questions
- 1What would you do?
- 2Describe a time you recognized the limits of your own knowledge or ability. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Self-awareness
- Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
