Scene to read · Collaboration, Professionalism
Everyone goes dark tomorrow
You joined a small team three weeks ago.
Your manager, Mosi, requires everyone's camera on in the daily video meeting but keeps his own off. In the small office after today's call, with the meeting screen still on the monitor, your colleague Kaia raises it with him as he stops at your desks.
The scene
Kaia: Mosi, your camera's been off all month while ours must stay on.
Mosi: I take those calls driving between sites. I need to see my team's faces.
Kaia: Then tomorrow we all go dark too. Everyone's agreed except our newest.
Mosi: That'd be a mistake. You're new here. Are you joining that?
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Mosi and Kaia?
- 2Describe a time you had to decide whether to join a group in pushing back against someone in charge. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
