Five ballots, maybe doubled

You are one of three students presenting your dorm floor's vote on the shared kitchenette to the hall council.

Your close friend Abigail tallied the floor's paper ballots: a sign-up rota beat chipping in for a hired cleaner by three votes. Checking her sheet tonight, you found five ballots that look entered twice, enough to flip the result. The council meets at eight tomorrow and not again for a month. In the kitchenette, you have just shown Abigail and Andres.

The scene

Abigail: I spent my whole weekend on that. Now you're saying I can't count?

Andres: Either plan gets this kitchen cleaned. Miss tomorrow, and nothing changes for a month.

Abigail: They might not even be duplicates. Some people just answer the same.

Andres: It's almost midnight. Are we recounting eighty ballots or submitting?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you do, and what would you say to Abigail?
  2. 2Describe a time you had to point out a possible error in a friend's work. How did you handle it?
