Which transport plan goes forward?
You are a patient advisory subcommittee member asked to help Catriona and Cecily resolve a disagreement about your group's recommendation.
In a small meeting room, co-chair Catriona, 53, and member Cecily, 66, review a report due to the hospital board today. It recommends using a limited transport budget for more frequent downtown shuttles. Cecily attended earlier meetings by phone; quick discussions left her neighborhood's requests for accessible pickup stops unheard. Changing the recommendation would mean revisiting a compromise other members supported.
The scene
Catriona: More frequent shuttles help many patients; changing priorities means reopening our compromise.
Cecily: When I called in, discussions moved on before I could explain.
Catriona: I'd support discussing stops, but delaying risks missing this year's funding meeting.
Cecily: More buses won't help neighbors who can't reach those downtown pickup points.
The two questions
- 1How would you help the subcommittee decide what to recommend and whether to submit its report today?
- 2Describe a time you worked in a group where someone's input challenged an agreement already reached. What did you do, and what did you learn?
What raters look for
- Collaboration
- Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
- Equity
- Notices unequal access or treatment and acts fairly, especially for people with less power.
