Scene to read · Communication, Professionalism
No wall space
You sit on your photography club's exhibition committee, and a fellow member has just asked you for a favor.
Your club's committee turned down Lamar's entry because two members thought it looked copied from a well-known print, though nobody could prove it. Minutes ago, fellow committee member Benedikt asked you to back a wall-space explanation, saying an unproven copying claim could follow Lamar around the club for years. Lamar now finds you both in the darkroom doorway.
The scene
Lamar: My print is refused, and nobody says why. Something was wrong?
Benedikt: The walls filled up fast, Lamar. Honestly, the meeting was rushed and messy.
Lamar: You were there too. Is space the real reason? I enter it at the library next month.
Benedikt: Go on, tell him how full the walls were.
The two questions
- 1What would you say to Lamar and Benedikt?
- 2Describe a time you were asked to support an explanation you weren't sure was honest. What did you do?
