Written scenario · Communication, Equity
Online only
You work at the front desk of a community recreation center.
The center recently moved all program registration online. An older man who speaks limited English has been waiting to register for a swimming class his doctor recommended. He has no email address and becomes frustrated, raising his voice while other people wait in line behind him.

The two questions
- 1What would you do?
- 2Describe a time you had to explain something to someone with a very different background from yours. What helped?
What raters look for
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
- Equity
- Notices unequal access or treatment and acts fairly, especially for people with less power.
