A warning without a name

You are the forum moderator Roald trusts, meeting with Roald and your co-moderator Rodrigo.

At Rodrigo's kitchen table, a laptop shows the hobby forum's admin page. Roald, 52, wants five years of threads deleted after a new member recognized personal details and posted Roald's real name; you already removed that comment. Rodrigo, 65, discovered members quote similar identifying details in other threads. Roald's posts have helped many members, but a public cleanup warning could draw renewed attention to Roald.

The scene

Roald: Please delete my threads tonight. Don't announce why; people will start searching.

Rodrigo: We also need members checking their quotes, or those details stay searchable.

Roald: I understand, but another announcement could connect my name to everything again.

Rodrigo: Could we contact people privately? Checking every old thread might take weeks.

The two questions

  1. 1How would you respond to Roald's deletion request and address identifying details elsewhere without increasing Roald's exposure?
  2. 2How do you support someone after a loss of privacy when you cannot promise that every trace can be removed?

What raters look for

Empathy
Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
Resilience
Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
