Personal question · Empathy, Resilience

Keeping up without losing connection

A group's pace can change as members gain experience or take on new commitments. Think about belonging to a team, club or hobby group whose ongoing pace became difficult for you, rather than a group that simply voted for a different plan.

The two questions

  1. 1Tell us about a time a group's ongoing pace became faster or slower than suited you. How did you learn why that pace suited other members, and what did you do about your own needs while remaining considerate of theirs?
  2. 2Describe a time you tried to sustain your participation in a group despite a mismatch in pace. What did you learn about your limits, and how did you decide whether to keep adapting, seek a change or step back?

What raters look for

Empathy
Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
Resilience
Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
