Scene to read · Empathy, Resilience
Since lunch
You work at a small online shop and share a desk with Mohan.
Mohan presented the shop's latest product video, and since this morning strangers have been mocking his voice and delivery in the public comments, where customers can see them. He keeps refreshing the page. The manager, Luca, has stopped at your shared desk.
The scene
Luca: Nobody replies to those comments. Answer them and they double. It'll die in two days.
Mohan: It's fine. Honestly. Please don't make it a thing.
Luca: Good. Then can you keep watching the page today and flag anything abusive?
Mohan: Sure. Sixty new ones since lunch. I'm fine. Really.
The two questions
- 1What would you do, and what would you say to Mohan and to Luca?
- 2Describe a time someone told you they were fine and you were not sure they were. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Empathy
- Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
- Resilience
- Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
