Practice that doesn't count yet
You are a member of a first-year program cohort.
Your program holds weekly peer practice sessions, but the work is ungraded and marks are given only at the end of term. Over the past few weeks, classmates have started skipping the sessions because nothing counts yet. You know the final assessment will test the skills these sessions build. You are close to many of your classmates.
The two questions
- 1What would you do about your own attendance and the falling turnout, and why?
- 2How do you decide whether to keep working hard when you get no feedback and the people around you are easing off?
What raters look for
- Motivation
- Shows genuine, sustained drive and a clear reason for choices, including when work is unglamorous.
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
