Personal question · Professionalism, Equity
The rule that didn't apply
Shared spaces like libraries, gyms, pools and quiet study rooms run on rules that apply to everyone. Sometimes a person feels the rule was meant for somebody else.
The two questions
- 1Tell us about a time you had to follow or apply a rule in a shared space for someone who thought it should not apply to them. What happened, and how did you handle it?
- 2Tell us about a time you had to decide how firm or flexible to be. What did you weigh, and what would you do differently now?
What raters look for
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
- Equity
- Notices unequal access or treatment and acts fairly, especially for people with less power.
