A father has lost his five-year-old at a festival
You are volunteering at the information booth of a large outdoor summer festival.
The grounds are crowded, with two music stages and an exit onto a busy road. You are staffing the booth with another volunteer, Brianna, when a father runs up to you.
What's said in the scene
Father: My daughter's gone. She was right beside me at the face painting. Lily, she's five, she's wearing a yellow dress.
Brianna: Should I announce it over the speakers? Or radio security first?
Father: (to you) Please. What do we do?
The two questions
- 1What would you do in the next five minutes?
- 2Describe a time you had to stay calm and organized while someone else was panicking.
What raters look for
- Problem solving
- Gathers facts before acting, considers options and consequences, and chooses a workable next step.
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
