Scene to read · Professionalism, Communication
Queen Odette
You are a member of a small beekeeping club.
You are cleaning hive frames in the apiary shed with two fellow members, Jomar and Wendell. They say the club president, Odette, quietly gave the sunniest hive stand to her own colonies this spring. You have not heard her explanation, and the club has only fourteen members.
The scene
Jomar: Best stand in the yard, and it just happens to be Queen Odette's. Shocking.
Wendell: We've got a group chat going. Join us. We're drafting a complaint.
Jomar: Nobody asked the rest of us. You saw where your hives ended up.
Wendell: Unless you'd rather stay friendly with her. No judgment. In or out?
The two questions
- 1How would you respond to Jomar and Wendell?
- 2Describe a time people around you were complaining about someone who was not there. What did you do?
What raters look for
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
- Communication
- Listens first, speaks clearly and respectfully, and adapts the message to the listener.
