Written scenario · Problem solving, Self-awareness
Six hundred dollars, three siblings
You are one of three adult siblings planning your parents' thirtieth anniversary party.
The budget is a fixed $600. On the planning call, your brother wants to book a venue so the day feels special. Your sister wants to spend most of the money on really good food. You have much more time than money: you can cook and decorate, but can add very little cash. Your parents' home could host the party. Everyone is stretched, and you are asked what you propose.
The two questions
- 1What would you propose for the $600 and your own labor, and why?
- 2Tell us about a time you had to contribute to a shared goal in a different way from the people around you. What did you learn?
What raters look for
- Problem solving
- Gathers facts before acting, considers options and consequences, and chooses a workable next step.
- Self-awareness
- Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
