Scene to read · Resilience, Collaboration

Twelve losses

You play goal defense in a mixed social netball league.

Twelve games, twelve defeats, and now the café that paid your court fees has withdrawn its sponsorship. On the courtside bench after the last whistle, Folasade and Gurpreet turn to you before the rest of the squad comes back from the lockers.

The scene

Folasade: I love you all, but I dread Tuesdays now. Let's fold and stay friends.

Gurpreet: One bad season. Drop a division, split the fees, and we rebuild.

Folasade: Three people already said they won't pay. Rebuilding with five isn't a team.

Gurpreet: Quitting at the bottom is what we'd remember. What do you tell the others?

The two questions

  1. 1What would you say to Folasade and Gurpreet, and what would you propose to the team?
  2. 2When is ending something the resilient choice, and when is it giving up?

What raters look for

Resilience
Recovers from setbacks, manages stress constructively, and learns from failure.
Collaboration
Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
