Finding my stopping point

Others may depend on a contribution without noticing who keeps it going. Recognizing that you are reaching a personal limit can make this reliance harder to navigate. People differ in how readily they notice their limits and how comfortable they feel making those limits known.

The two questions

  1. 1Tell us about a time you realized others depended on work you were doing unnoticed, but you were reaching a personal limit. How did you decide whether to keep doing it quietly or say something, and what did you do?
  2. 2Describe a time during that same experience when your understanding of your own limits changed. What helped you recognize the limit, and how did that awareness affect how you handled others' reliance on you?

What raters look for

Self-awareness
Recognizes own biases, limits and emotions, and seeks and uses feedback.
Ethics
Weighs competing duties honestly, protects people from harm, and stays accountable to rules and values.
