Scene to read · Collaboration, Communication

Every source vetoed

You are in a three-person group writing a heavily weighted archival research report for a history seminar.

The report is due in two days. In the university archive reading room, Mordechai has rejected every source you and Omkar pulled, three of them for real dating problems, without finding any himself, and his own section is still blank. Both of them turn to you.

The scene

Omkar: Two days left and your section's empty, Mordechai. I'm writing it myself tonight.

Mordechai: With that undated letter? Three of your sources were wrong. I caught them.

Omkar: And found zero replacements. Vetoing isn't the same as contributing.

Mordechai: A thin paper beats a wrong one. Ask our third member who's right.

The two questions

  1. 1What would you say to Omkar and Mordechai?
  2. 2Describe a time a group member's high standards were slowing the group down. What did you do?

What raters look for

Collaboration
Works toward a shared goal, shares credit and load, and repairs friction inside a team.
