Scene to read · Collaboration, Professionalism

Her laminated dough

You are a culinary school student at a four-person pastry lab station.

For five weeks your station partner Bea has slipped out early, leaving the rest of you to finish her laminated dough and scrub her equipment. Team evaluations are on Friday. During cleanup, with Bea already gone, your other partners, Marisela and Amrita, stop wiping down the bench.

The scene

Marisela: I'm telling Chef before Friday. We've done her dough for five weeks.

Amrita: She leaves for a night shift. She told me. She's barely sleeping.

Marisela: I'm sorry for her, but our grade covers work she didn't do.

Amrita: One more week of covering won't hurt us. You're the tiebreaker.

The two questions

  1. 1What would you say to Marisela and Amrita, and what would you do before Friday?
  2. 2Describe a time a teammate was not doing their share. How did you handle it?
