Lane four
You are a security screener at an airport.
You have noticed that Wiremu, usually the sharpest on your crew, has been slow and distracted all week. During the morning rush, at the bin area, he quietly asks you to take his bag-check station for the rest of the shift. Station changes are supposed to be logged with the supervisor, Khanh, who is walking over.
The scene
Wiremu: Please take my station today. Something at home. Don't mention it, okay?
Khanh: Morning. Lane four's backed up all week. How's it been running, from where you stand?
Wiremu: It's fine, boss. Just a busy morning.
Khanh: Thanks, Wiremu. And you? Anything I should know before I sign the lane log?
The two questions
- 1How would you answer Khanh, and what would you say to Wiremu?
- 2Describe a time someone asked you to cover for them without explaining why. What did you do?
