Personal question · Empathy, Professionalism
A practice worth keeping?
Taking over or handing on a responsibility can mean reconsidering a cherished practice that no longer meets current needs. Think of an ordinary experience in a club, household, team or project where someone's attachment mattered, but so did making a needed change.
The two questions
- 1Describe a time you took over or handed on a responsibility and a cherished practice needed to change. What was the other person attached to, and how did you come to understand why it mattered to them?
- 2Tell us about a time within that same experience when you decided what to preserve and what to change. How did you explain your decision, respond to the other person's concerns, and ensure the responsibility was handled properly?
What raters look for
- Empathy
- Recognizes what others feel and need, and lets that shape the response without losing judgment.
- Professionalism
- Is reliable, respects boundaries and confidentiality, and holds a consistent standard under pressure.
